• The Port’s volume in 2023 places it well above the East Coast’s other main ports of Virginia (3,287,546 TEUs) and South Carolina (2,581,373 TEUs).

• The Port’s volume through Q1 2023 was 12% slower compared to the same period last year.
• 2023 started well with a 3.5% increase in January compared to January last year, but has since slowed with decreases of 16% and 20% in February and March, respectively.
• The Port’s decline in Q1 2023 has been most pronounced in empty export TEUs (-33%) and in loaded import TEUs (-27%).
